PROCEDURE WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I TAKE THE TEST? There is no special preparation and any other instructions will be given to you when you make your appointment. First you'll be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire that incorporates information supplied by your doctor. You'll then be asked to lie in the CT scanner for the scan. There are no injections and no pain. It is completely non-invasive. You will be asked to hold your breath for only a few seconds. Following the scan you will be given a score that indicates the calcium levels in your arteries. A report will be given to both you and your doctor. Your doctor will then recommend any follow up treatment or action if required. Your results will go into a learning file to check against other tests and other people having a Heartcheck scan. This will help plan the best management for everyone with heart disease. Your results will be kept strictly confidential and you can have access to them at any time. |
